CWS has put out a few sliding and patio door lines over the years, and the hardware does not always cross over. If you’re not sure which you have, open the door and look at the top corner of the fixed panel or the bottom of the operating panel. CWS etches the series and often the manufacture date into the spacer bar between the glass panes, but the surest identification is the sticker on the top rail, if it’s still there.

The compatibility gotcha we run into constantly: CWS doors from before roughly 2010 used a 1-1/4 inch roller housing that is no longer OEM-sourced. Homeowners try to swap in a generic adjustable roller from the big box store and find the door binds or rides off the track. We keep OEM-spec housings and a machined steel aftermarket equivalent that actually fits that older profile. For newer CWS units, OEM rollers are still available and worth the extra twenty dollars over a generic; the stainless bearing race holds up far longer in Florida’s moist air than the zinc-plated versions. If you’re pulling a handle set, measure the mounting screw spacing before you buy anything. CWS used two different latches across the same series depending on manufacture year, and the wrong one leaves you drilling a fresh hole in painted aluminum. We’ve seen it too many times.
